I realise that there might be stories about minors, and I'm fine with that. Realistically, they are usually the only people who get the really big casts many of us like.

However, since there was a request posted for a storie around a child, and two rather WONDERFUL serials currently running with children, I just need to ask that there be NO sexual references AT ALL. I unfortunately need to take a zero-tolerance stance on this for legal reasons. Otherwise, have fun!

I begin to think about the stand that Tom has made for me. I love the fact that Tom always goes the extra mile to make things work, and this one is a beauty. The stand is made of steel pipe and has two inverted T shaped uprights, held together about thirty inches apart by two thinner pipes. About three feet high, at the top of the stand there are two bearings with pipes through them. These are joined by a steel strap that forms a sort of sling, with bolt holes for another to be added to the top. The ends of the base have lockable casters. Once I am attached to this stand, I can also be wheeled around the house. After a couple of hours during which Tom feeds me a pureed lunch from a water bottle with a built in straw, the cast is hard enough to finish the job.

The day had finally arrived and I was ready for casting. I went to the bathroom for the last time in a while, did my business and had a long luxurious bubble bath. I would have stayed longer, but I was anxious to get casted. Then while he could still access it, Tom inserted a rectal catheter. I have a rubber bite plate that I sometimes use to prevent me griding my teeth at night, and I put that in and Tom put two nasal tubes in my nose. He then covered me from head to toe with stockinette. He cut the pieces of the appropriate sizes and taped them together to make a stockinette suit. I was totally wrapped in padding including my head, for now. Now I was ready to get plastered, as that is what we had chosen for the cast. While I was standing, Tom started on the body. He had given me two broom handles to hold and keep my arms out of the way. He began putting layer after layer of five inch plaster over me, starting at my hips and moving upwards as it set. He had me pull up into a good posture position, and also pull in my stomach. I am in good physical shape, well for now at least, and this was easy to do. By the time he reached the base of my breasts, the cast around the hips was already setting and holding the weight.

Katleen is sitting in a taxi, on the way back home. She has spent a very good day. The negotiations are going well but she is exhausted having to walk on crutches. What a bad luck, this broken foot !

When she arrives home, she pays and slowly goes out the taxi. She takes her bag and closes the door. She adjusts her crutches under her armpits but her bag slides from her shoulder. She must adjust it and when she is about to hold her crutches to go home, the taxi moves off.

Katleen wants to scream, she wants to move but it is too late : the rear wheel runs over her good foot. Katleen feels herself falling on the pavement, screaming in pain. And a second pain suddenly explodes in her whole leg. And her broken foot hits the ground, sending a third burst of pain in Katleen’s body.

Hi! My name is Wanda, and I am immobilized. Before I describe my present state, let my tell you a bit about myself. Since I was a young girl, I have been fascinated with casts and casting. It started when a friend of mine developed scoliosis, and I would visit her in the hospital. She was miserable, as she was in a big cast that went from just above her knees to the top of her head. I could understand how she felt, but I was jealous at the same time. I wished I had scoliosis, so they could put me into that cast. I didn't think I'd be miserable. My feelings about casts continued when a boy in our class broke his leg skiing and wore a long leg cast for three months. Then a girl broke her arm when she fell awkwardly doing high jump. Then a friend broke her shoulder falling off a horse, and wore a shoulder spica for two months. And on it went.

Sarah is at home with her foot elevated on the coffee table. She is resting, a pack of ice on her swollen toes.
She is bored and wonders what she could do. A lot of activities are impossible for her due to her crutches and her foot, on which she cannot put weight.

At a moment, she decides to go out to check if there is any mail in the mailbox. She takes her crutches and walks slowly to the pavement. There is nothing ! She is about to go back home when her neighbor Cynthia rushes toward her.
“- Sarah, what has happened with your leg ?”
“- A bad fall down the gateway and a dislocated and broken ankle and yesterday, my toes have been crushed in the park : you know that there will be a party in the park tomorrow and 2 workers were pushing a heavy trolley with tables and they have not seen my foot. Four toes crushed !”

Their First Christmas Together ~ Part 2

Anne was very happy with the new 52 inch plasma TV that Tom had bought her as a Christmas gift. She told him that she couldn’t believe that he got it soo fast as she knew this was purchased after her fall. She smiled and told him thanks saying, “well, at least it’s only my left side that’s a broken mess. I can still use my right hand to change the TV channels and if you bring me my laptop I should be able to navigate pretty well with that and a bedside table to get it close enough to be within a comfortable reach.” It was late Christmas Evening as she had had to spend time in the hospital for observation after her bones were set and then casted.

The first thing the doctor did was to cut off the full leg cast, and then cut it apart to retrieve the Stryker heel. He wouldn't reuse it for another patient, but did plan to use it on my new cast. This was to be the first real walking cast, although the toes were still angled about 30 degrees down. Again the Stryker heel was put in place, but first the doctor asked what I usually wear on my feet. When I told him 4 or 5 inch stilettos, he rolled his eyes and set the bar lower than he had planned. “This will be too far out with flat shoes, but since you plan to wear high heels, it should be perfect. You can start to walk on it first with crutches, but gradually without them.” I was elated, finally I could start to walk without crutches.
